It All Started with This Piece

It all started around mid-year 2021, when I got a creative itch and decided I wanted to try to wire wrap a Tree of Life on something, but none of the stones I had were really good pieces to try to attempt this, especially with my limited knowledge in the craft.

I received the stone in this picture from my dear friend and Reiki Healer, Renee Lowery, and I immediately knew that I wanted to put the Tree of Life on the stone.

I hadn’t had any real previous experience with wire, wire-wrapping, or wire-weaving, but I knew I really wanted to try this design.

I found a tutorial by Lan Anh, and I took an unused keychain ring to make my own version of the Tree of Life design on this stone.

Over the next couple of months, any time that I wore my beautiful new hand-made pendant, I would get compliments and a shocked response, when I shared that I had created it myself.

Since then, I have been teaching myself to wire-wrap and wire-weave different designs and pieces. I must also give a huge thank you and credit to some amazing artists that have created YouTube videos of different techniques, tutorials, and designs, and I have included each of them in my descriptions of my pieces when applicable.

I am excited to continue to grow my skills and see where this journey takes me.

(This part added on 3/2023) - I recently found out that my maternal grandfather had lapidary and metalsmithing experience and talent in jewelry making. It is really cool to think that this talent, that I didn’t know about for 40 years, was actually in my blood and part of my genealogy, but I didn’t even realize it!
